Scenarios which enhance the independent or interdependent outdoor
mobility of the elderly to and/or from a specific place. Mobility
services making use of wireless sensors for outdoor activity allow the
elderly to feel safer and enable the interaction with the environment.
Monitoring services to be developed include the early detection of
limitations in mobility of the elderly. The system will be based on a
common communication platform that concentrates various sensors that
provides real time monitoring of geo-position (GPS) and physical
conditions of the elderly. Scenarios include :
The elderly
requests to be picked up by a member of the Virtual Team. The location
of the elderly and his teams’ members is determined by the GPS device.
The member closest to the elderly is selected to transfer the elderly
to his destination.
Analysis and
evaluation of data for the early detection of limitations in mobility
and physical fitness of the elderly.
Data are read on a regular basis from the various sensors of
the system such as the embedded accelerometer on the mobile device
which provides measurements of speed.
