Care and wellness Scenarios

Scenarios that contribute to the provision of constant care of the elderly person. Examples include monitoring the cognitive activity of the elderly on a long-term basis to detect gradual deterioration in their mental status. Furthermore, technology could help at the detection of falls; a simple fall detector could automatically call for immediate assistance from a relative.  Guidance could be also given through the device for weather conditions and suggest proper clothing for outdoor activities.  Detecting emergencies and call to the next of kin as well as reminder alerts could be also used for proper necessities for outdoor activities, such as stick, eye-glasses, planned activities or appointments. Further scenarios include :

  • Fall detection

Monitor the elderly with the use of special sensor and send immediate alert to responsible Team members in case of detection of a fall. In such event the location of the elderly is obtained from a GPS device and transmitted to the members in order to assist him immediately in person.

  • Elderly Activity follow-up

Daily activity follow-up of the elderly. The elderly sets up his daily schedule with various activities. The time, place and members that may be involved in each activity are defined. The daily timetable is transmitted to the group member that is responsible for the follow up of the activities. At any time during the day the member may contact the elderly and enquire variations in the schedule (delay or absence from a meeting etc). The system also supports location enquiries in the case that there is no response from the elderly.
